As the world's population continues to age, the need for innovative solutions to support the well-being, connectivity and mobility of older adults becomes increasingly vital. Loneliness is an epidemic that can cause serious harm to health, with the U.S. Surgeon General recently advising that experiencing loneliness can increase the risk of death equivalent to smoking 15 cigarettes a day. Intuition Robotics has embarked on a mission to address this challenge by creating technology that enhances the lives of seniors and helps them stay connected with the world. Their flagship product, ElliQ, an AI-powered social companion robot, aims to combat loneliness and social isolation while providing a personalized and engaging experience for elderly individuals.

At Woven Capital we’re always looking for creative solutions to support the future of mobility, which as we age is key to improved health outcomes and independent living. By leveraging empathetic AI and robotics, Intuition Robotics has designed ElliQ to offer a unique and proactive approach to engage seniors in meaningful interactions. ElliQ is more than just a voice-activated device; it is a companion that can engage in natural and intuitive conversations, play music, provide reminders, act as a personal concierge, and even facilitate social connections with loved ones. ElliQ goes beyond just conversation and is equipped to support various aspects of senior living, such as tracking health and wellness goals, coordinating transportation, and assisting with day-to-day tasks.

One of the key differentiators of ElliQ is its empathetic and proactive approach. Rather than focusing solely on performing tasks like other voice-activated technologies, Intuition Robotics designed ElliQ to foster genuine companionship with users. This unique feature has resonated well with the target audience, as evidenced by users interacting with the device more than 20 times daily. Moreover, an initial deployment with the NY State Office for the Aging found that ElliQ reduced loneliness by 95% across 800 recipients, engaging users with everything from mindfulness exercises to recording and sharing life memories.

We are excited about Intuition Robotics as they are the first company to bring to market an AI-powered social companion robot with a high level of engagement and personalization. As all automotive companies move towards the future of mobility, how can unique solutions like ElliQ keep people connected as they age. Enabling the movement of goods, people and information is the key to supporting independent living.
